FortiGate Solution Secures Network Core with IPS, Firewall and VPN Services for Country-wide Deployment
SEOUL, Korea - Feb. 3, 2009 - Fortinet® Fortinet, the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, today announced that DaeSung Industrial Gases (DIG), a leading gas production and engineering supplier in Korea, has deployed Fortinet's virtual private network (VPN) solution at 18 branch offices, including the company's headquarters in Seoul, Korea. This deployment is aimed at securing DIG's network by providing VPN, firewall and intrusion prevention (IPS) functions at the core of the enterprise network to combat the current blended threatscape.
Prior to the deployment, DIG faced the challenge of managing higher traffic patterns caused by increased Internet usage, and encountered service level issues caused by the existing ADSL solution. The previous VPN network equipment that DIG used was unable to address the IPS functions needed to protect the network against external threats. To resolve the network security pain points, DIG reviewed its options and decided on Fortinet as the preferred vendor to provide an enterprise-level UTM solution to secure the VPN for stable communications and to offer integrated security functions such IPS and firewall.
This DIG deployment includes multiple FortiGate®-3000 Series systems, a FortiGate-300 appliance, 13 FortiGate-200 appliances, four FortiGate-60 appliances, a FortiManager and a FortiAnalyzer network management and analysis solution.
According to the manager of General Affairs and Finance at DIG, "Fortinet's industry-leading UTM solution offers us stable performance in the optic LAN networking environment and enables us to optimize our operations with an integrated security platform that includes VPN, firewall and IPS. As we had recently deployed an enterprise-wide EP system within the company, a stable networking environment, which provides integrated security services, is highly necessary for the company."
The FortiGate series is an ASIC-based comprehensive network security solution that provides content inspection firewall, IPSec and SSL VPN, intrusion prevention, Web filtering, anti-spam, antivirus, antispyware, and IM and P2P controls that prevent blended attacks. In addition, the FortiGate appliance offers integrated traffic shaping functions, making it one of the most cost effective, convenient and powerful network protection solutions available. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard® Network, which helps ensure protection against the most damaging, content-based threats from email and Web traffic such as viruses, worms, intrusions, other unwanted network traffic and more - around the clock and around the world.
"DIG's choice of Fortinet as its network security vendor of choice offers strong evidence of the excellent performance that FortiGate appliances provide for VPN security. It also gives validation to the integrated the security approach offered by the FortiGate as a new generation security gateway," said Justin Lee, Country Manager of Fortinet Korea. "In addition, we look forward to continuing to winning the confidence of other customers who are looking for VPN and firewall replacements this year with our high-end enterprise UTM solution."
