Free White Paper: Next Generation Security for Enterprise Networks
Patient Data is protected and spam mail is down more than 70% thanks to the adoption of FortiGate™-300 system
SUNNYVALE, Calif. June 23, 2005 - Fortinet - the confirmed market leader in Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection-- today announced that Aero Nimbus, a private two year old aircraft engineering company with operations in Southeast Asia and Indochina, has chosen its FortiGate™-60 and FortiGate-200A systems to secure its network against viruses, worms, Trojans and other content-based threats.
Aero Nimbus is the first company in Asia to build next-generation commercial aircraft, called very light jets, which are targeted at governments for use in surveillance, border patrols, and cartography, and the commercial sector, to be used as air ambulances and for corporate travel and VIP transport. Because the company routinely exchanges confidential files and large design documents, Aero Nimbus needed to secure its network connections between offices in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, as well as its communications links with over 50 partners in the aerospace industry. In evaluating suitable security solutions, Aero Nimbus identified email security, antivirus and anti-spam, protection against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks and virtual private networks (VPN) features as priority criteria for selection.
"We selected Fortinet because the nature of our business demanded a security solution that protects both our data and communications," said Mr. Y.C. Ma, chief executive officer for Aero Nimbus. "Since deploying the FortiGate systems, we have seen a dramatic drop in spam and viruses throughout our business. The resulting operational manpower savings from vastly reduced virus outbreaks, spam and system downtime allows Aero Nimbus to concentrate on our core business of building aircraft."
Fortinet's FortiGate series of security appliances impressed Aero Nimbus with their range and depth of best of breed applications, and the company eventually selected and deployed FortiGate-60 systems for Thailand and Malaysia, and FortiGate-200A systems for offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
All FortiGate systems are ASIC-accelerated security platforms in an appliance form factor, which integrate best of breed security applications including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, content filtering, anti-spam and traffic shaping to provide complete real-time network protection from viruses, worms, grayware/spyware and other network threats, without degrading network performance. FortiGate-60 systems protect small and remote office networks whileFortiGate-200A systems arewell suited for protecting medium-sized businesses, and branch and satellite offices.
Both the FortiGate-60 and FortiGate-200A systems both offer dual wide area network (WAN) links for redundant Internet connections, and an integrated 4-port switch, with unmatched price/performance. The FortiGate-200A system features dual DMZ interfaces, allowing for granular network segmentation. The FortiGate-60 and FortiGate-200A systems also reduce exposure to network threats by detecting and preventing over 1,400 different intrusions, including DoS and DDoS attacks. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard distribution network, which provides continuous updates, ensuring protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans and other threats, around the clock and around the world.
"Network security is imperative to innovative businesses such as Aero Nimbus in order to protect the intellectual property and confidential communications that are the lifeblood of the business," said Jens Andreassen, vice president of international sales for Fortinet. "We are pleased to offer Aero Nimbus a comprehensive network security platform including essential security applications that ensure its mission critical business network is always protected from the latest network threats."
