Fortinet Appoints Yasuyuki Shinmen as New Japan Country Manager

Move Aims to Support Fortinet Growth in Large Enterprise and Carrier Market

TOKYO, Japan, October 14, 2009 - Fortinet® - a market-leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions today announced the appointment of Yasuyuki Shinmen as the new country manager for Fortinet Japan. Bringing with him nearly two decades of industry experience, Shinmen has been promoted from his role as the director of sales for large enterprises. His new charter includes managing country sales and operations, deepening inroads into the carrier and large-enterprise market segments, while ensuring continued growth and sustainability in the Japanese channels.

Prior to Fortinet, Shinmen was a general manager with Nokia Japan and had managed both the companys Internet security and smart phone solution businesses. He was also the senior product marketing manager at Avaya and also previously worked at Lucent Technologies Japan.

Mr. Shinmen said, ÏI am pleased to take on this new role as the country manager as Fortinet is well-positioned to address the increasingly aggressive blended threatscape and deliver high return on investments for end customers. Our consolidation technology with Fortinets flagship FortiGate product family is proven and presents a logical next step for carriers and large enterprises to migrate away from point solutions. In addition, Fortinets end-to-end security portfolio has the breadth and depth to engage enterprises in the areas of email, web and database security with FortiMail, FortiWeb and FortiDB products respectively. Coupled with a strong business strategy in place, we are well-positioned and excited to take Fortinet Japan onto the next stage of growth.

In his new role, Shinmen will report to Patrice Perche, Fortinets vice president of International sales and support. Mr. Perche asserted, ÏJapan is a very important market for Fortinet, in which we already have a strong sales success and want to accelerate growth through high-end penetration. I am confident that Shinmen has the required experience to help the Japan team achieve this objective and grow the business that our channel partners and customers have come to expect.
