Company Also Leads Two Enterprise UTM Price Bands for Q3 2007
SUNNYVALE, Calif, - Dec 17, 2007 - Fortinet® - a pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that new IDC research data confirms that for the third consecutive quarter, the company ranked No. 1 in worldwide UTM factory revenue for Q3 2007, ahead of Check Point, Cisco, Crossbeam, Juniper and SonicWall. According to this data, Fortinet has also displaced Cisco as the leader in two enterprise UTM price bands ($10K-$24.9K and $25K-$49.9K). Additionally, IDC data confirmed that Fortinet saw healthy growth in both factory revenue and units shipped in a high-end UTM price band ($100K-$249.9K), which typically represents sales to large enterprises and service providers.
Data in the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Security Appliance Tracker, December 2007 confirmed:
"Market adoption for UTM solutions continues to increase as all-sized businesses realize the security, operational and cost benefits of integrating critical security functions into an appliance,' said Ken Xie, president, founder and CEO of Fortinet. "As evidenced by the latest IDC data, the enterprise UTM price band segment in particular witnessed significant growth in Q3, and Fortinet's share of this market grew as well. This shows that enterprises are recognizing the need for a truly integrated UTM solution to secure both their core networks and their remote offices, and are increasingly turning to Fortinet for their solution."
IDC defines UTM security appliance products as those that integrate multiple security features within one device, including network firewalling, network intrusion detection and prevention (IDP), and gateway antivirus. Fortinet takes UTM further through its family of award-winning FortiGate™ multi-threat security systems that integrate eight essential security applications and services -- including firewall, antivirus, virtual private network (VPN), intrusion prevention (IPS), anti-spam, Web content filtering and traffic shaping ?that can be deployed individually, or combined as a UTM solution.

Fortinet provides us with a secure environment in a simplified management scheme and very low maintenance. The performance of Fortinet's firewall is second to none. All the required security functions are truly integrated, and the ease of configuration of the FortiGate appliances allowed us to carry out the initial deployment within two weeks in spite of a relatively large and widespread installed base. Today, implementing new VPN tunnels with hotels is a matter of an hour or less. Our goal is to replace the existing ISDN connections from several thousand hotel customers with VPN connections.
