Company Holds Total of Twelve VB100 Awards for Robust Antivirus Capabilities
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Dec. 5, 2008 - Fortinet® - the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that its FortiClient™ end-point security software has earned five Virus Bulletin 100% (VB100) awards in 2008 for a total of 12 VB100 awards throughout the company's history. The five VB100 tests in which Fortinet participated this year evaluated FortiClient and more than 20 other antivirus solutions running on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista x64. Fortinet's FortiClient earned 100 percent marks in nearly every award category.
In giving Fortinet its latest VB100 awards, Virus Bulletin testers called out the following positive characteristics of the FortiClient product: impressive speeds, thoroughness of scanning and excellent stability when scanning very large sets.
Well known in the industry, the VB100 awards recognize products that have been tested by independent experts and proven to accurately detect 100 percent of viruses known to be "in the wild," constituting current, real-world viruses.
"Winning five VB100 awards in one year is an achievement that places Fortinet among the very best in the industry for virus detection and performance. This is an achievement that we are very proud of and speaks highly of the dedication and effort our team has put into creating a superior antivirus product," said Michael Xie, CTO and co-founder, Fortinet.
Virus Bulletin staff tested FortiClient 3.0 along with other antivirus products for detection rates, lack of false positives and speed of scanning. This latest VB100 awards adds to Fortinet's portfolio of technology certifications and accolades, including twelve VB100 awards, NSS Labs UTM certification and six ICSA Labs certifications (firewall, antivirus, IPSec, SSL VPN, Network IPS and antispyware).
Fortinet's FortiClient host security software helps address the need for secure access and endpoint protection for enterprises - including telecommuters, mobile workers, remote sites - and consumers. A unified security agent for personal computers and mobile devices, FortiClient integrates host antivirus, host anti-spyware, a personal firewall, anti-spam, IPSec VPN, Web filtering and registry monitoring. FortiClient supports the most popular Microsoft Windows operating systems, including both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Vista, and also includes network address translation (NAT) traversal, centralized policy management, multiple policy support for access to multiple devices, strong encryption and a comprehensive set of tools for troubleshooting.
